Reflections of Time by TOM HUSSEY

For his series Mirrors, Dallas-based photographer Tom Hussey paired images of elderly subjects with reflections of the “younger versions” of themselves. The results were so impressive that they were used in an award-winning ad campaign for an Alzheimer’s drug.

“I was talking with a World War II veteran, Gardner, about his life experiences,” says Hussey, explaining the genesis of the project.
He was about to have his 80th birthday. He commented that he didn’t understand how he could be 80 years old as he felt he was still a young man. He just didn’t feel it was possible he could be 80 years old. I started thinking about a milestone age approaching for me, as I was nearing 40. I realized that everyone thinks of themselves at a certain age or time in life. I built a bathroom set and photographed Gardner staring into his bathroom mirror and seeing himself as a 25-year-old young man.

"Buble" 1963 - Melvin Sokolsky

This iconic “Bubble” series was created by fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky for the Harper’s Bazaar 1963 Spring Collection. The series, inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights and Surrealism, depicts model Simone D’Aillencourt in large bubbles floating through the Paris cityscape.
Since we are talking pre-Photoshop, the plexiglass bubbles had to be hung from a crane in various locations throughout the city.

BIZARRE and FREAKISH illustraions by Jeff Sotto

If you think that illustration is made only of cute and adorable works, you might be terribly wrong. The bizarre and freakish have their special place in Mad Subculture "heart".
Jeff Soto came up with these amazing, freakishly cool illustrations of strange creatures and furry skulls.
Jeff Soto is an artist, illustrator and muralist who has exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. The artist’s distinct color palette, subject matter and technique resonate with a growing audience and bridge the gap between Pop Surrealism and graffiti. Inspired by youthful nostalgia, nature, graffiti, hip-hop and popular culture, his bold, representational work is simultaneously accessible and stimulating.
